There are loads of benefits to achieving an Arts Award, including:

  • Learn new creative skills by taking part in practical workshops
  • Create your own unique portfolio of creative work
  • Gain an arts certificate or qualification, which is great for adding to your CV or applications
  • Develop your transferable skills, like communication and leadership.

Our activities are suitable for young people aged 11 to 18 who have an interest in creative subjects and would like to develop their skills, knowledge and portfolio.

The aim of these activities is to provide an opportunity for young people to access free creative activities from a higher education institution to support them to find out more about creative subjects, pathways, and careers.

Some of our activities have specific eligibility criteria - this will be made clear for each individual opportunity, and we encourage you to make yourself familiar with this information before applying. UCA is committed to raising aspirations toward further and higher education through partnerships and collaboration.

Some of the activities promoted on this page are offered as part of UCA's collaborative outreach partnerships:

  • Uni Connect is a national project aimed at promoting social mobility, by improving access to Higher Education for young people from under-represented backgrounds. UCA is part of two Uni Connect programmes - the Higher Education Outreach Network (HEON) in Surrey and North East Hampshire, and the Kent and Medway Collaborative Outreach Programme (KaMCOP) in Kent and Medway. HEON and KaMCOP offer collaborative outreach to students in Years 11 to 13 who reside in specific wards. Visit the Uni Connect website.
  • Kent and Medway Progression Federation (KMPF) - UCA is a partner within KMPF, which is made up of more than 40 schools in the Kent and Medway area, 4 universities, 3 colleges and 2 local authorities working together to enable young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to access higher education.  Visit the KMPF website
  • AccessHE - AccessHE is the access to higher education network for London. Founded in 2011 and a key division of London Higher, the AccessHE Creative Network aims to develop coordinated strategies to support under-represented young people in London. Find out more about AccessHE.
