Putting Ourselves In The Picture, is a collaborative project led by the University for the Creative Art's (UCA) Fast Forward: Women in Photography research project, partnered with five pioneering organisations: Women for Refugee Women and Autograph in London, Impressions Gallery in Bradford, National Galleries of Scotland in Edinburgh and Work Show Grow.
It is driven by the knowledge that opportunities in photography for marginalized women and non-binary photographers are few and far between and there is an increased need for change in the photography industry.
Part 2 of the project, Engaging with Industry, which commences this May, will work with Fast Forward’s partners to develop the project with communities of marginalized women and non-binary people, enhancing well-being in society.
The project will focus on developing relationships with the photography industries that could offer work experiences, such as day long field visits, workshops, talks with industry partners, and mentorships, giving participants new skills, professional knowledge, and invaluable networking skills.
Through these experiences and opportunities Fast Forward aims to further change the rhetoric around gender bias in the photography industry with reference to the future employment of all women and non-binary photographers.
