Plastic Free Farnham is a voluntary group of Farnham residents who, with the support of Farnham Town Council and Rotary Clubs of Farnham, aim to have Farnham accredited as a Plastic Free Town, as defined by the charity Surfers Against Sewage.
Scott Keiller, UCA’s Sustainability Manager said: “I was very pleased to be able to sign the plastic-free pledge and join the growing list of allies which includes the Maltings, The Bush, the Lions, Round Table, and the Hedgehogs."
The pledge commits participants to removing at least three single-use plastics from day-to-day operations.
Steve Dickson, UCA’s Catering Operations Manager, added: “I am very proud to have been able to reduce our use of single-use plastics and will continue to reduce it even further”.
The initiative includes all three UCA campuses across Surrey and Kent and it is helping its students become more aware of their use of plastic and how it can be reduced.
