Styling Identity
Styling Identity, an exhibition of work by first-year Fashion Media & Promotion students, explores the theme of identity – through song lyrics, music, spoken word and fashion publications. The unit encourages students to find creative connections and generate styled images, in response to their research.

7 March 2019 - 21 March 2019
10:00-18:00 (GMT)
Zandra Rhodes Gallery, UCA Rochester
The first half of the unit explores ‘sound and vision’, analysing a variety of songs by singers or bands, to inform a location shoot for an album cover by their given artist.
The second half of the unit looks at the ‘flavour’ of the written word as presented through poems or short stories, translating them into enticing fashion imagery for a suitable fashion publication.
Fashion Media + Promotion students are free to stylistically interpret the identities of these written characters, (fictional or real), and then art direct and shoot their vision in the photography studio.
The various texts present a different cultural connection to the concept of living in, or around, the city.
