Seeds & Surveillance features a dynamic and exciting range of work by Digital Film and Screen Arts second year students. Taking the twin themes of ‘maps’ and ‘networks’ as their starting point, students investigate narrative and conceptual ideas with invention and imaginative interpretation using photography, film, video projections, animation, sculpture, spoken word and interactive installations. The exhibition represents a substantial and notably diverse range of concerns including explorations about digital technology, commentaries on narcissistic tendencies in contemporary culture, pornography, bodily mutations, meditation and reflections on childhood memories and the state of melancholy. Seeds & Surveillance positively illustrates the evolving perception and ambition of our students who are at the half-way point in their undergraduate course.
