UCA is pleased to present a retrospective exhibition by Colin Drysdale. Comprising a rich selection of paintings, drawings and photography, Some old and new work spans a life time of making and charts the evolution and transitions in Colin’s art. The exhibition includes a series refined figurative drawings and paintings, photographed interiors and experimental photographic montages. Colin’s recent body of vibrant abstract line paintings highlights an unceasing desire to explore and experiment with colour and composition.
Colin was born in an ambulance outside the Arsenal football stadium in 1944. He has been a supporter ever since! He studied at Guildford College of Art, which merged with Farnham School of Art in the late 1960s (now UCA, Farnham) and is currently a member of our alumni. He was Head of Art at Brooklands College for many years and also taught in various other educational institutions.
During his lecturing career he continued to exhibit his work and remained steadfastly committed to his practice. An exceptional artist whose career has been sadly shortened, this show is a fitting celebration of Colin’s practice.
