38 CODE
Within Ty Locke's practice he explores different types of tedious process, setting mundane rules to follow and committing his illogicality, to create absurd, dysfunctional objects. Becoming a voluntary torture or punishment, doing something to a point of transformation, Locke uses what’s to hand to create and impose processes onto familiar reference points, exploiting an object’s function to create dysfunction.

Within each work Locke attempts to show the audience his own internal logic through material enquiry. He creates sculptures that are curiosity-driven, that exploit the formal properties of an object and play with its materials limitations.
Locke graduated from BA Fine Art, UCA Canterbury, in 2018. The exhibition presents new works made since graduating.
