Students from BA (Hons) Acting & Performance, MA Screen Acting & Performance, BA (Hons) Design for Theatre & Screen and BA/BSc (Hons) Music Composition & Technology trod the boards in London’s West End – at the Bloomsbury Theatre and Studio – for the inaugural Performing Arts Graduate Showcase.
In all, 37 actors took to the stage to present 19 duologues from contemporary theatre and screen in front of a large audience of friends, family, and industry guests – leading to paid film work later this year for three students, Eugénie Biron, Ellie Mills, and Zoe Sines.
Eugénie said she would be working on a short film project. “We are likely to start the project in the New Year as the director is also writing a book at the moment, but it's really exciting!”
While the acting students were showcasing their skills, Design for Theatre and Screen and music students presented their inspirational work in the Bloomsbury Studio.
Four Design for Theatre and Screen students had a second chance to show off their work to leading industry names at the New Blades modelmaking exhibition in London. Jinju Han, Emilia Looberger, Linde Rijkes, and Tegan Turner represented UCA, exhibiting alongside six other creative universities.
Back at UCA, the cohort were showcasing their work across the Farnham campus – together with final major projects, applicants for the new UCA Graduate Company presented scenes from Frantic Assembly’s Things I Know To Be True as part of the audition process.
There were also productions of two plays - Roberto Zucco and Let the Right One In – at Farnham Maltings.
Programme Director Andrew Pritchard said: “As ever, with all our Performing Arts students, the standard of work was of an exceptional standard – I can’t wait to see what they all do next.”
