Dr Tonguc Sezen

Bio

Tonguc Sezen holds a PhD in digital media with a focus on digital interactive narratives and game writing from Istanbul University. During his doctoral studies, he was awarded the Fulbright Scholarship and conducted research at the Georgia Institute of Technology, School of Digital Media in the US. Before joining the UCA, he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at Istanbul University and as an associate professor at Istanbul Bilgi University in Turkey, a research fellow at Rhein Waal University of Applied Sciences in Germany, and as a Senior Lecturer at Teesside University's School of Arts and Creative Industries in the UK. Throughout his career he taught undergraduate and post graduate units on game narratives, game design, transmedia storytelling, user experience design, digital media, and game studies and served as the course leader and department head.

His research focuses on interactive narratives, transmedia storytelling, worldbuilding, and toy culture. He has publications in reputable outlets such as Oxford University Press, Routledge, Springer, McFarland, and Palgrave McMillan. He contributed to the academic community through editorial roles and has organized workshops and symposia on game design and interactive storytelling. Dr Sezen also acted as a narrative designer and game designer in EU funded innovation projects on cultural heritage and political literacy.
