Deputy Director of the School of Fine Art, Crafts and Photography
Dr Rebecca Court is an artist and academic leader interested in pedagogy and creative art practice. Joining UCA in 2023 as Deputy Director of the School of Fine Art, Crafts and Photography, she works with the Director and Programme Directors to oversee course development and delivery. Previously, she held roles at Birmingham City University, including Associate Professor, Course Director, and Head of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Studies.
Bio
Rebecca has a BA (Hons) Fine Art from Norwich University of the Arts and an MA Photography from the Royal College of Art. She completed her practice-based PhD, ‘Agents, objects and the art exhibition space: towards the co-relational, co-formation of things’ at Central St Martins (UAL) in 2023.
As Deputy Director for the School of Fine Art, Crafts and Photography at UCA, Rebecca works with the Director of the School and the Programme Directors to oversee course development and delivery and is driven by a strong desire to enhance the student experience. She has a deep commitment to fostering inclusive learning communities, and a firm belief in the transformative power of education. Rebecca is interested in innovating modes of learning, teaching and assessment informed by research and practice.
Alongside her role Rebecca continues to develop her multi-disciplinary practice which encompasses sculptural, photographic, performative, and installation-based mediums. Rebecca’s research interests are concerned with the terminology, relationships, and systems of interdependence between things during the event of the exhibition.
