Senior Lecturer in Theory and Practice
Dr Mike Marshall is a Senior Lecturer in Theory and Practice at UCA Canterbury. An artist working with moving and still images, his work examines the boundaries between contemplation and activity. Mike has exhibited internationally, including at the Sydney and Venice Biennales, and has received numerous prestigious awards. His research interests lie in the relationships between thinking and sensing, materiality and consciousness, and the aesthetics of everyday life.
Bio
Mike Marshall has exhibited internationally for around 25 years including the Sydney, Gwangju and Venice Biennales, Tate Gallery Triennale and numerous solo museum shows including the Tate Gallery St Ives and Ikon Gallery as well as commissions with Hayward Gallery, Film and Video Umbrella and a residency at the British School at Rome.
He received an MA from Chelsea School of art (1996) winning the sculpture prize, and a PhD exploring relations between thinking and sensing from Goldsmiths College London (2008).
