Senior Lecturer
Clive teaches a wide range of subjects related to graphic communication and user-centred design within the BA Graphic Design and MA IID/UX programs at UCA Farnham. He also focuses specifically on blended learning and user experience research.
Bio
Clive graduated with a BA in Visual Communication from the Surrey Institute of Art and Design in 1996, followed by an MA in Communication Design from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in 1999. Beginning his career in Hong Kong, he worked as a Senior Multimedia Designer and Art Director for broadcasting companies and design agencies, with clients like Caltex Hong Kong (Chevron), StarTV, and Hong Kong Public Library. He also freelanced as a web designer for various art and culture-related organisations.
Transitioning to education, he joined the Hong Kong Institute of Education as an instructor, where he earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Education. This role involved overseeing primary and secondary school visual art education, contributing to curriculum reform, managing an art gallery project, and developing a museum app.
Eleven years later, he joined the School of Design at Hong Kong Polytechnic University, initially as an instructor and later as a Teaching Fellow. He taught UI/UX design, web and app development, and spearheaded numerous design system projects with real clients. His consulting work included a user research and wayfinding design project for the Hong Kong Transport Department and ARUP.
He secured grants to develop educational videos on design software and physical computing and to create inquiry-based learning for visual communication using design thinking. Now a Senior Lecturer at UCA Farnham, he focuses on the Year 3 Graphic curriculum and MA IID/UX, continuing his dedication to integrating design thinking into education.
