Cameron Young

Cameron Young is a fashion photographer with a decade of industry experience and is the year 2 lead for BA (Hons) Fashion Photography.

Bio

Cameron's career journey began with warehouse work in fashion houses, progressing to spearheading major campaigns, which has given him a comprehensive understanding of the industry's inner workings. He has collaborated with renowned fashion brands, magazines, and designers, creating visually compelling content that has been featured in high-profile publications and advertising campaigns. His work is known for its narrative depth and striking visual style, often exploring themes of identity, isolation, and societal structures.

Cameron has had multiple solo exhibitions, including “The Ideology of Introspective Isolation” and my current project, “Time of Death.” These exhibitions have allowed him to push the boundaries of conventional fashion photography, merging art with social commentary. His interests within fashion focus on highlighting class disparity, particularly the lack of representation for Northern, working-class photographers in the UK. This advocacy is reflected in his photographic work, which often features underrepresented voices and perspectives.

Cameron is currently the Year 2 Lead Fashion Photography Lecturer at Epsom, where he previously served as a photography technical tutor. Alongside his teaching responsibilities, he works as a freelance photographer with a strong emphasis on community-led projects in the North of England and his personal artistic endeavours, occasionally taking on exciting client briefs. His freelance work includes collaborations with local artists, community groups, and cultural organizations to create impactful visual stories that resonate with a broader audience.
