Andy Bossom

Andrew Bossom is Industry Engagement Lead for Games & Creative Technology at the University for the Creative Arts, playing a pivotal role in developing and delivering key collaborative partnerships with the creative industries in the areas of applied creativity with the games industry regionally, nationally, and internationally. Andrew joined UCA in 2015, having previously worked in the Games and Postproduction industries.

Bio

As a Creative Director, Andrew collaborates closely with the games industry to establish meaningful and sustainable partnerships that arise from real sector-challenges, through R&D and Vertical Slice development, drawing on UCA researcher expertise across areas including motion capture, virtual production, XR, AI, UX, EDI, and interactive storytelling.
Andrew was previously PI lead on an XR Stories industry partnership project “Immersive Storytelling for Avatars in Realtime gaming: human data capture for AI-drive non-playable character engagement in games”, in collaboration with SKC Games Studio, and B2B spin out company, 1956 Individuals. This was funded by XR Network+. Additionally, Andrew engages in the development and co-authoring of live industry projects with companies including Supermassive Games, Little Chicken Games, SEGA Two Point, and Kwalee.
Andrew is the Founder and Director of the UCA Games Incubator Studio, nurturing emergent graduate talent at UCA’s Farnham campus, overseeing the successful publication of five distinctive graduate IP games to market across PC, VR, and mobile platforms. 
Andrew has recently overseen the incubator studios expansion through his involvement in the £2.3m Games and Innovation Nexus project - GAIN. A university consortium with University of Surrey, University of Warwick and the University for the Creative Arts, funded through the UKRI Connecting Capability Fund, working with games, AI and XR companies supporting sector growth.

Research statement

Andrew’s research interests are aligned to practice-based applied creativity, with a focus on industry-facing research collaboration, Knowledge Exchange, and commercialisation in higher education, particularly in relation to the Games industry and Serious/Applied Games development.
